Broken Pieces
"Fear has always been a reason for dispute and even wars.", she mumbled thoughtfully and sighed a bit at that. Who could blame them? She definitely wouldn't and humans fought back because of the same reason, fear of annihilation. Yet humans and Deva were technically the same, however to make them all see that is hard. Emptying the glass she decided this was enough for tonight and she placed it on the table before leaning back again and pulling her legs up on the couch to sit more comfortable. There wasn't much use in dwelling on the thoughts of that anyway. Like Shiraki said they had to play their part and hope, after all even now humans were still at war after thousands of years... Deva and Humans all living together seems like such a foolish wish. At least she hoped for Animus to be able to widen their influence and create a place for at least most of the Deva where they live together with humans. That was probably a lot closer to the reality. How long that will that takes they can only guess though. Maybe they won't even live to see that happening, after all change was something that took its time.

Getting back to her brother - of course she was happy to hear from him again. Yet there was this nagging feeling of something bad, she couldn't quite place it. Of course he was old enough for his own decisions and at the same time like Shiraki said she was his sister and of course worried about his doings. "I love him of course. However he had always been easily influenced by the wrong people.", she said worried and leaned her head back on the couch to look at the ceiling. "When dad died he got sucked into a group of extremists, that is why he eventually left when we got here.". The memories were still vivid about her brother changing from a loving family member to someone who despised the cause of their father's death, Deva. "I... I doubt he would even come to the funereal.", with that her voice got rather quiet in the end because it just dawned on her, she had to prepare all of that. "I have to decide what to do with... her remains. She never talked about what she would liked.", her words seemed distant and it was more like a thought that suddenly swept over her.
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”
“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face; You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

Freya was right, fear led people down a dark path, was able to turn the purest person into a killer. However he personally assumed that it wasn't just fear. The lust for power, one of mankind most despicable traits was also at fault in his opinion. Humans hadn't even been able to live in harmony with one another and to think something of the sort was supposed to happen with an entirely different race, it just seemed highly unlikely at this point in time. Even if the change were to occur, it would probably take hundreds of years to come to terms with one another. As sad as it was, peace and equality alike were still far away. The topic in question then turned towards Freyas brother. Shiraki had never met him personally, all he knew about him was told to him by Freya herself. She explained to him the reasoning behind her worry for him and from what she told him it was understandable. "Loss can change a person, even more if such tendencies already existed beforehand. If something is taken away from you, you'll bear ill will towards the one who took it. It may only be simple logic but how much the death of a person close to you, a parent nonetheless can change someone's entire character, their views, their ideals." Patting her lightly on the shoulder he looked at her once again, only to see some color leaving her face once again.

The funeral. Same as her it hadn't occurred to him until now, given all his attention had been focused on Freya and her well-being. Of course everything had to be organized but now was not the time nor the place to talk about such matters. She had just returned from a land torn apart by war, the strain it had had on her clearly still visible. "I see..." Shiraki remained silent for a moment, thinking. A son that wouldn't even show up to his mothers funeral, it was a sad and horrid thought. Now however was not the time to dwell on this matter. Turning his body towards her he gently took her hand into his in hopes it would bring her some comfort, at least for now. "Listen, you don't have to think all of this trough right now. You just returned back home, taking care of all of this right away would only put even more stress on you, do you think your mother would have wanted that?" His eyes were fixated on her, a small, gentle smile on his lips. "Please take your time and deal with all of that once you feel ready to do so. And once that time comes I'll support you however I can, alright?" He meant it, if she needed anything, anything at all she could come to him.

Broken Pieces
Even with her brother being the only relative she had left, especially after she doesn't even know what happened to the other parts other parts of the family - she felt like Shiraki was a lot closer to her than her own flesh and blood. It was probably due to the whole loss thing that happened. It dawned on her how her mother never really got to know him. But she knew she would have liked him eventually when she would have gotten past the awkward hatred she had towards him for taking her daughter away from Prometheus. His words echoed in her mind. Loss could indeed change someone. He had always the right words for most of the situations and it did indeed help a lot to hear these from him. Her mind itself was a huge mess and bringing some structure to it was easier when you had someone who actually made sense. It would have definitely helped, if it didn't dawn on her she had to prepare a funeral for her mother. All the things she had to do and probably also deal with Prometheus, even if she didn't really want a big farewell, she knew her boss wouldn't let her just say goodbye to her mother quietly.

But before her mind could even wander into darker places she felt Shiraki's hand trying to reassure her and she looked at him slightly confused and saddened at the same time. She wasn't used to so much falling on her, usually she would deal with things like this for patients but doing this when she was the one who had to deal with the loss, it was terrifying. Nodding at his words she wiped away another tear with her free hand and huffed lightly before just kind of hugging his arm and leaning her head against his shoulder. She needed to be close to someone right now and she was sure he wouldn't mind her being clingy at least for the time being. "I will try. Thank you.", she said quietly before closing her eyes for a bit. Just to rest... However before she realized it the fatigue of everything that had happened and the breakdown she had swept over her and she fell asleep.
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”

............ Shiraki & Freya | Juni 2215 | Abends
All of this, the funeral, the situation with her brother, it all seemed so sudden. A few weeks ago they had messaged each other normally, he would ask her about her day, how things looked over there, trying to avert her mind from the death and suffering a little bit. This day, the day of their reunion was supposed to be a happy one, they should be celebrating, Freya came back home but her mother wasn't as lucky. He had met that woman a couple of times, however they never had an actual conversation, mostly her just speaking out her mind to him, most of it blaming him for her daughters decisions. It would have been a lie to assume that he liked that woman very much but still, Shiraki didn't wish death upon anyone. Maybe they could have actually talked it out, listened to each other and find common ground. The least he could do in her honor was to take care of Freya in her stead as best as he could.

His attempt to comfort her was met with an confused and sad stare from his former apprentice. He had been there for her in the past but this was still different then all those other times. Still, she started to lean on him, both metaphorically and physically as she started to hug his arm and lean her head against his shoulder. As always she thanked him, although he didn't need her thanks, it was natural for him at this point, he wanted to be here, be there for her. Slightly smiling Shiraki then watched her as she fell asleep, all of the stress must have caught up to her. He himself remained seated, careful not to wake her from her little slumber as she needed every little bit of rest she could get. It would have been possible to carry her to her bedroom but he didn't want to disturb her in the slightest. So he just sat there, watching her sleeping face. Even now, after all of this, he was still glad, glad that she came back home. Once Freya stopped responding to his messages he had assumed the worst, that she had died. Would he even have been able to handle that, losing her? What he felt for her, what she meant to him, it was safe to say that she was one, if not the most important person in his life. With his free hand he carefully brushed through her hair before slowly closing his eyes as well, drifting into sleep. None of them could have known at that point in time. Their fates were about to change, the bond they had forged over the years bound to be tested or even broken. The developments in the near future, no one could have foreseen them.
